Haiti attracted 25% more investments over the last year

The Center for Facilitation of Investments (CFI) has announced on September 3rd that in the last four years it has attracted local and foreign companies that invested a total amount of US $697 million in 44 projects covering six priority sectors, including agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, energy, and manufacturing. CFI estimates that these projects will create up to 27,000 jobs over the next five years.

 

Over the last fiscal year $225 million have been invested in Haiti, comparing with $179 million in the previous year.

 

In its latest newsletter CFI listed the newest investors that took advantage of opportunities in Haiti. They are:

 

Foreign Direct Investments:


SURTAB S.A., a company that Manufactures tablets, phones, and accessories, invested US$300,000. The number of jobs to be created: 39.

 

TDC COMBUSTIBLES S.A., a company specializing in the treatment of waste, oil, and hydrocarbon sludge, invested US$750,000. Number of Jobs to be created: 21.

 

LIFE S.A., produces articles made from fabrics (purses, t-shirts, carpets, pants), invested $US 100,000. Number of Jobs to be created: 20.

 

INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION II HAITI S.A. specializes in manufacturing clothes, has invested US$10 M, and will create 60 jobs.

 

HAITI LEATHER S.A., to be producing leather articles for export, invested US$2.2 M and will potentially create 355 jobs.

 

AYITI LINGE SERVICE S.A., offering linen and laundering services, invested US$2 M. Number of jobs to be created: 20.


National Direct Investments:

 

SOPASA S.A., producing pastas, invested US$1.8 M - Job creation: 54

 

PREFAB S.A., producing aggregate and related products, invested US$5 M. Number of jobs to be created: 87.

 

DMS ENTREPRISE S.A., producing copper electric wires., invested US$4 M. Number of jobs to be created: 30.

 

CFI named "The Investment of the Month" Haytrac Power & Gas, Promigas and Andinat, a company that launched the construction of the first Liquified Natural Gas Terminal and Pipeline. It's investment is US$123 M. It will potentially create 6,000 jobs.
