Haiti invites you to its grand National Carnival

The Haitian National Carnival, one of the biggest events taking place in the country and one that drives a wave of tourists, is fast approaching.

This year's Carnival, themed “Tet Kole power yon Ayiti pi djanm” (translates to “heads together for a stronger Haiti”), will take place on March 2-4, 2014, in Gonaives, also known as the town of independence.

Three hundred and forty (340) hotel rooms have already been listed for the visitors, as well as some private homes, which will also be available, announced Maryse Noel, General Director of the Ministry of Tourism and the National General Secretary of the Carnival Committee.

This is the third year when the National Carnival is not held in the capital city. In 2012 the event took place in Les Cayes; and in 2013 in Cap-Haitien.

Every year the Carnival attracts hundreds of thousands of attendees from Haiti and abroad with its dances, colorful costumes, uplifting music, rich cuisine, and of course the famous Haitian Art and Crafts.
