Metro Cable Port-au-Prince project presented to Government

Port-au-Prince transportation needs may be served by a Metro Cable. On March 13th, POMA, the global leader in cable transportation has presented to the Ministry of Economy and Finance its Metro Cable Project for Port-au-Prince.

The project would have 2 Metro Cable stations 1.5 km apart from each other. The passenger cabin would be attached to a moving cable and will run between the two stations.

With a capacity of 10 passengers per cabin (eight seated and two standing) the Metro Cable System can carry up to 3000 people an hour each way.

POMA's transportation systems carry 6 million passengers per hour on 5 continents in 73 countries. In 2009, POMA also launched the Roosevelt Island Tramway, a new cable railway that connects Manhattan with Roosevelt Island. Its 2 ultramodern cabins can welcome 110 people each.
