Maarten Boute returns as CEO of Digicel Haiti

After almost two years, Maarten Boute returns as the CEO of Digicel's Haiti subsidiary. He will replace Ineke Botter who, according to Digicel, resigned for personal reasons.

"I am delighted to be back in the role of CEO for Digicel Haiti. Since 2012, I stayed at home to work on new projects that I believe will contribute to the development of a better future for Haiti and I am looking forward to this new adventure led by Digicel and its partners," said Boute.
Boute who has been the CEO of Digicel Haiti for three years, left this role in 2012, but remained with the company in an advisory position.

During his time as CEO, Maarten led his team through the 2010 devastating earthquake, the cholera epidemic, and a long period of political instability. Despite this, Boute has enabled the company to achieve a strong growth phase, which has seen an increase in its subscriber base by 1.5 million and an income growth of 60%. In 2013, Boute started Surtab, a tablet assembling company in Haiti.

CEO of Digicel Caribbean and Central America, Regis Romero noted, "We welcome Maarten Boute on to return in the role of CEO of Digicel Haiti. Since his initial appointment to Digicel in 2009, Maarten has demonstrated his dedication and dynamism in what was sometimes difficult situations, and we are proud to have him back on board full time."

Digicel is the leading telecom company in Haiti and the Caribbean region.
