Haiti opens its first Tourism Promotion Office in DR

Beginning with July 1st, Haiti will open the first tourism promotion office in the Dominican Republic. The announcement was made by Haiti's Minister of Tourism Stephanie Villedrouin during the "V Cumbre Prensa y Turismo" tourism summit that took place in Puerto Plata, DR.

According to Villedrouin, the purpose of this office is to inform Dominican people about tourism offers in Haiti, art and cultural exchange programs. She stated that there is a lack of information and understanding that Haiti is generally safe and is not included in the list of countries with safety issues.

The Haitian minister added that as of right now there are no tourism investment projects between the two countries; however, the tourism ministries have established partnerships where the Dominican government is committed to supporting the Haitian tourism sector in their plans for training and promotion.

Villedrouin also stated that Haitian Hospitality School students will receive training from Dominican experts.
