The Kinam Hotel, located in Petion-Ville, added 85 new rooms to the 33 existing ones and is also getting a fresh look. According to the Prime Minister's office this 16 million dollar investment is the first phase of the 30 million dollar expansion project.
The hotel has two conference rooms, a bar and a restaurant. They are planning to open several stores and a coffee shop. Kinam Hotel uses “Made in Haiti” furniture and is decorated with paintings by Haitian artists.
According to Stephane Villedrouin, Haiti's Minister of Tourism and Creative Industries, the Port-au-Prince area will have a total of about 2,100 hotel rooms by the end of 2014.
