Projection: Haiti's GDP will grow 6.5% in 2013

Haiti's economy is projected to grow 6.5% in 2013 - the highest growth projection in the Caribbean according to the latest World Economic Outlook report released by the International Monetary Fund. The report predicts continues growth by 6.3% in 2014 and 5.4% in 2015.

Last year, Haiti's economy growth was below expectations. Its GDP growth rate reached only 2.8%, below the projected 4.5%. The International Monetary Fund based it on storms and drought which damaged the crops and a slow execution of public spending because of low absorption capacity.
