New Development Projects inaugurated in Jacmel

A few major development projects including sports, tourism and infrastructure facilities were inaugurated in Jacmel on February 14th, by President Martelly. In attendance with him were Prime Minister Lamothe and the Ambassador of Venezuela to Port-au-Prince, Mr. Pedro Antonio Canino Gonzalez.

The new facilities are:

  • - The Pétion and Bolívar Square;
  • - A Convention Center with about a thousand seats;
  • - Seaside Boulevard;
  • - Pétion-Bolivar Amphitheater; and
  • - a dozen kiosks installed in the arts and crafts exhibition center.
 
The Jacmel Sports park includes a soccer field, a multisports field for volleyball, tennis and basketball, as well as eight well-equipped lockers.
 
These projects were financed by the Haitian government with funds from Petrocaribe.
 
In his remarks, the Head of State expressed his hope that the Jacmel population appreciates the importance of these achievements and will value them for the benefits of future generations.
