Overview

• The Office of Public Affairs of the Embassy of the United States of America is pleased to announce the successful completion of an adaptive swimming program for ten Haitian youth. Nine of the ten participants had never swum before, and during the demonstration program at the Embassy the children impressed the audience with their new-found skills, proving that there is no limit to the human capacity to overcome.
  
  Brian Shukan, the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy, ​​in his speech summarized the Embassy’s support: "the United States is based on the principle of equality of all persons, regardless of race, religion, origin, sexual orientation, or physical abilities. It is with great pride that we are able to fund and welcome today this Adaptive Swimming Program in support of this idea of ​​equality for all. All people are capable and deserve access to pools, schools, and polling stations."
  
  This program was supported by many volunteers and institutions, including the Minister of Youth and Sports, the National Swimming Federation, the Haitian Federation of Associations and Institutions of Disabled People of Haiti, Professional Swim Instructor Nikki Whitlock and Rodrigo Brenes of USAID.
