Description: The Haiti Initiative for Building Innovative & Sustainable Communities (HIBISCUS) is a multidisciplinary team of architects, engineers, planners and other professionals in related fields from Haiti and its global community, formed as a result of the earthquake of January 12, 2010, who are determined to contribute to the development and reconstruction of Haiti and committed to provide long-term sustainable design and planning solutions to address the challenges of the urban and natural environment in Haiti.
As an organization, HIBISCUS actively establishes and maintains a network of professionals in the Building, Environmental and Sustainable fields in Haiti, the U.S. and throughout the world ready to contribute to rebuilding efforts and long-term development. We are dedicated to the promotion of self-empowerment, the use of safe building practices and technology, efficient use of energy, preservation of the environment and management of natural resources. We value collaboration, professional integrity, creative problem-solving and long-term commitment.
